Did you know that when a predatory bird consumes a rodent that ate anticoagulant rodenticides, that bird receives a sub-lethal dose of poison? Massachusetts has seen multiple bald eagles and horned owls killed or seriously affected in this manner, and wildlife rehabilitation experts will tell you that almost 100% of predator birds tested show evidence of rodenticide ingestion. Any commonly used products in the pest management industry have an impact on non-target animals, even when used as directed. We understand the need to use materials judiciously and safely to avoid causing more harm than necessary.
Bees are nature's most effective pollinators, and there are laws in place crafted to protect them from pesticide exposure. However, even so-called "organic" mosquito control products can harm bees when contact is made. If found on your property, we will make the appropriate recommendations for removal and relocation.
Some insects can overwinter or otherwise make unwelcome appearances in homes, but not all are harmful. In fact some, like the ladybug, feed on aphids that produce sap that supports ants. Knowing the difference between potentially dangerous and beneficial insects helps us to reduce the amount of pesticides applied while having a net positive effect on pests in your property.
